Embark on a mangrove
river cruise and head towards Mengkabong Water Village, where the local Bajau community
lives. On the way to the village you can try the local traditional crab catching method,
which has been used for years and years. After setting the crab traps, cruise along the
Mengkabong River. Pass by the colourful cemetery of the Bajaus, situated in the mangrove
area. See how the people live in the houses on stilts in the Mengkabong Village and take
some great shots of the inhabitants and their way of life.
Proceed to Mengkabong Explorer on the way back, check and haul in
your crab traps! Learn more about batik painting under a local attap hut and try out
yourself how to make a batik painting. Use your skills and have a nice memento to take
back. While waiting for your painting to dry, try other local activities such as ketupat
weaving, walking on stilts or horse riding or just relax and take it easy while having a
drink at the bar.
Mengkabong Explorer also offers Foot Reflexology. Improve your blood
circulation with our foot reflexology or traditional massage services. Sit back in our
cozy attap hut while enjoying your massage, given by our own masseurs.
